About ZKL06

Our Chapter

The Zeta Kappa Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was officially established on February 19, 1955. It is the 243rd chapter of Alpha.

ZKL was established for many of the same reasons as Alpha itself:
  • The mutual benefit of professionals and academicians
  • Support the social needs of young African Americans
  • To aid others in the Black community

In the '90s, the chapter established a nonprofit educational foundation, The Zeta Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation, to fund its scholarship. Several events help generate funds for the scholarship.

The Foundation

In 1995, the ZKL Educational Foundation was formed so that the group's fundraising, philanthropic efforts, and awarding of college scholarships could be better supported and sustained through the establishment of a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization {42-1408585}.

What We Do...

Each year, the ZKL Educational Foundation advances its mission to bridge educational and leadership opportunities for students and develop better citizens for our community. The primary goal of our organization is to develop tomorrow's leaders and professionals by investing in today's youth. Your contribution helps strengthen our impact in the lives of ethnically diverse students of the Greater Des Moines area, through scholarships, mentoring, and academic programming.
